Friday 20 September 2013 Wendover to Chinnor, England

Passing Chequers, the Prime Minister’s Summer Residence.

Air traffic, natural and manmade, over Chequers.

Amazing bird call. I think it is the Red Kite, a bird of prey that nearly vanished from England. They have since been protected, restored, and are a great environmental success story here, taking their place controlling rabbits, rodents, and wood pigeons in the countryside. They soar over fields, but I can’t seem to catch them in the lens of my camera.

The next two photos and audiofiles are about kissing gates. They come in both metal and wood. I think they are called that because the swinging part kisses both walls, but in my fevered imagination, like getting trapped in a revolving door, you can get caught in the middle of the gate briefly, as the door swings, with just time to kiss….
