It has been VERY quiet on this part of the trail. Little air traffic, not even birds or a breeze. Mostly I hear the sound of my boots on the chalk trail, and Troy breathing at my heels, never more than 3 steps away.

When there’s one of the rare trailside benches, often memorials, we stop. He flops down, and I take the pack off to stretch my shoulders and unweight my legs.
