Thursday 10 October 2013 above Crianlarich to Rannoch Moor, Scotland

The weather turns beautifully clear, but the wind is unrelenting. Today is the day we walk into the Teeth of the Wind all day mostly along an old military road. Between sun and wind, I feel dried out thoroughly, even a bit parched.

The Battlefield of Dal Righ where Robert the Bruce was defeated in 1306. This is the lochan where legend tells that he cast his sword into its waters.

Evening sky over Rannoch Moor, “one of Britain’s largest wild places.”

Our wonderful tent site on Rannoch Moor. The temperature dropped to freezing under those clear skies. We were bundled inside out of the wind by 7pm. Shortly, after dark, I had an incredible audio experience. Through the sighing winds, I could hear stags bugling their rut. It is the most haunting sound I’ve ever recorded. Listen closely.
