Thursday 17 October 2013 London, England

Troy’s travels began again. He was picked up for his vet exam on Thursday the 17th and kept overnight at the facility for departure on Friday. I wouldn’t see him again until Saturday afternoon in San Diego.

To distract myself from missing Troy, I went to Selfridges department store, where I met Susan for tea. Susan is my friend whom I met on Friday 20 September on the Ridgeway Trail, and we kept in touch. She’s a sweetheart, and I’m so grateful we met! After tea, we went up to the Selfridges Christmas Shop…and there I saw the only other corgis I’ve seen in my entire stay in the UK—corgi statues!

For my last night in the UK, I went to a show—the new musical, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. I love that theatre with the statues of many theatrical masters. The musical was wonderful, and the child in me delighted in the sweet magic of the story!

I have no audio for you for this day either…but I highly recommend you get the original movie, starring the brilliant Gene Wilder, and watch it. The sublime song “Imagination” was included in the stage musical and has been stuck in my head ever since.
